Ever since the introduction of the Navy SEALs in 1962, there have been different gear used by the teams over the years. There have also been variants of helmets used by the Navy SEALs to ensure that officers have ultimate head protection during operations. Here are some of the tactical helmets that have been used over the years by the SEALs.
- Navy SEAL Spec-Op Helmet
This tactical helmet came to prominent use around 1990s and early 2000s. Designed by the Progressive Technology of America Inc., the helmets have extremely remarkable features similar to today’s MSA MICH helmets. The helmets have impeccable features and impressive protection details. Unfortunately, the designing company – Progressive Tech – went out of business about 10 years ago.
- Navy SEAL CGF Gallet Helmet
This helmet shared some similarities with the Progressive Tech. helmet, but it also had certain distinctive details. For instance, the CGF helmet has a three-point suspension system that comes with a special leather chin chip for retention. The interior part of the helmet is padded with thick rubber pads as well as a mesh overhead suspension.
- Army SF CGF Gallet Half Head Helmet
Another remarkable helmet used by the Navy SEALs is the CGF Gallet Half Head Helmet. The helmet is produced by a manufacturer in France. The helmet is designed to fit into any tactical headset set up. It is built with a thick impact resistant pad making it one of the safest tactical helmets out there.
It also comes with a large overhead impact resistant pad and a three point suspension system with a plastic chin cup. The helmet is fairly lighter than many other options in the market. It also has a low profile shape; all of these features combine to make it one of the favorites in the tactical helmet market.
